I'd recommend the Canon MF656cdw ($349, Staples ), which will print 22ppm at true 1200x1200 DPI and scan single-pass 2-sided. The cost of Canon-branded 067/067H cartridges is high, but once the aftermarket toner makers accelerate their inevitable race to the bottom on price, a full set of cartridges will eventually be <=$100, which equates to about 2c/page black and 7-8c/page color -- very respectable considering the print quality you get.

Canon if color gamut accuracy matters, just be advised toner costs more for this reason and aftermarket toner more difficult to find... far fewer sellers on amzn, ebay and with a few on aliexpress

I have one and I hate it. Colour is not accurate. Power outages causes all sorts of trouble with toner recognition.

For *color* laser, I'd go Canon hardware over Brother, so Canon themselves, or HP, which is just re-badged Canon running HP software. Gamut tends to be more full and accurate, image quality stays more consistent over time with combo cartridge models (toner and drum in the same consumable) and I find mechanical quality to be more reliable, especially as the machine ages.

No. You only replace the individual toner cartridge that is low/empty, independently.

As am I. I looked at that canon the other person suggested but I don't see a manual feed tray like this brother has.

Hey! I was so close to purchasing your suggestion but something came to mind. I've never owned a laser printer unfamiliar with the logistics but would this Canon MF656cdw require a replacement of (all toners) if one of them becomes low? I have a pima canon inkjet that sucked and made me refill ink for all of them even if only one was running low.

I bought one of these during COVID. Less than 3 years later it won't even power on. Obviously it's out of warranty, and talking to a repair shop, it's probably cheaper to buy a Canon.
